  • Temporary Road Closure Snoring Road, Walsingham

    NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Order affecting the C317 Snoring Road from its junction with Scarborough Road to its junction with Thursford Road in the PARISH OF WALSINGHAM because of tree works.

    The road will be temporarily closed (except for access) from 7th to 11th November 2022 for the duration of the works expected to be about 5 days within the period.

    Alternative route is via: C317 Snoring Road/ Walsingham Road, C478 Barsham Road/ Water Lane, C586 Fakenham Road/ High Street, C597 Common Place/ Holt Road (Barsham, Walsingham, Great Snoring).

    (If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date of the Order).

    Penalty: £1000 maximum fine on conviction and/or endorsement for contravention.

    In the event of the start date being delayed the new start date will be displayed on site in advance.

    The road will be temporarily closed (except for access) 5th to 7th October 2022 for the duration of the works expected to be about 3 days within the period.

    Alternative route is via: C478 Water Lane, C586 Walsingham Road, C586 Fakenham Road, U14014 Snoring Road (Barsham, Great Snoring).

    (If necessary the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date of the Order).

    The road will be temporarily closed (except for access) 5th to 7th October 2022 for the duration of the works expected to be about 3 days within the period.

    Alternative route is via: C597 Holt Road, C317 Snoring Road / Walsingham Road / The Street / Norwich Road / Great Snoring Road, A148 Fakenham Bypass, B1105 Barsham Road, C586 Fakenham Road / High Street (Sculthorpe, Little Snoring, Kettlestone, Barsham, Walsingham, Fakenham, Great Snoring).

  • Speed Awareness Messaging Unit report July 2022

    The SAM2 unit was opposite the Social Club during July 2022 monitoring traffic speed and the volume of vehicles coming into the Village from Walsingham.

    From 4 July 2022 to 20 July 2022

    • 6,114 vehicles were recorded coming into the village with an average of 363 per day.
    • The peak times of travel were 8 am to 9 am (average of 21 vehicles); and 5 pm and 6 pm (average of 31 vehicles)
    • The maximum speed was 45 mph at 4 am on 5 July, (although the average speeder was travelling 24.6 mph).
    • The majority of vehicles were travelling just under the speed limit which is 30 mph. The 85th percentile speed (i.e. of 5,197 vehicles) was 29.9 mph; and the average speed was 24.6 mph.

    Alternative route is via: The Street, Walsingham Road, Snoring Road, Thursford Road, North Lane, Hindringham Road, Fakenham Road, Holt Road, Great Snoring Road, Norwich Road (Thursford, Little Snoring, Kettlestone, Walsingham, Great Snoring).
